Electronic prescribing or e-prescribing (e-Rx) is not an entirely new concept in the healthcare industry.  It focuses on computer-based electronic generation, transmission and filling of a prescription, taking the place of paper and faxed prescriptions.  It allows a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant to electronically transmit a new prescription or renewal authorization to a community or mail-order pharmacy.

Waiting Room Solutions, a leader in web based EHR and Practice Management software, announced today that they are one of the few complete enterprise EMR systems that was chosen to win the 2011 Surescripts White Coat of Quality Award.

 National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, Farzad Mostashari, stated last week in a meeting of the Health IT Policy Committee that, “in 2012, Meaningful Use will soar.”  He told committee members that, “meaningful Use will continue to be the cornerstone of our activities.  We can expect to see the numbers continue to rise.”

Sometimes it feels like it is a good idea to buy everything from one vendor. EMR and PM software as well as hardware, networking and computer maintenance.

 During years of economic downturn and healthcare upheaval, many companies and medical practices have been hit hard with lower revenues and sinking margins.  Software as a service, SaaS, is one of many options that industries are turning toward to save money to protect their most valuable information instead of paying thousands of dollars to install software on their computers.

Under the new 5010 requirements, all billing providers are now required to report their Taxonomy Code with all claims.
